CARLSBAD, Calif. (May 2)--Yulex Corp. has formed a Scientific Advisory Board of latex allergy experts to further the company's efforts to develop hypoallergenic products out of latex made from the desert shrub guayule, according to a Yulex news release.
The members include Katrina Cornish, Yulex senior vice president of research and development, who developed a method of making hypoallergenic latex from guayule while a research scientist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Other members are Robert G. Hamilton, an allergy expert at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine; Hans-Peter Rihs, who heads the Department of Molecular Genetics at the Institute of Occupational Medicine in Bochum, Germany; and Ronald Simon, who heads the Division of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, Calif.
The board will meet for the first time next month to discuss general issues of guayule research and development, a Yulex spokeswoman said.
