EC closes investigation into carbon black industry
Brussels--According to a statement from the parent of Columbian Carbon, the European Commission has closed its 30-month investigation of the carbon black industry. The commission initiated its investigation in November 2002 after receiving a complaint alleging that certain carbon black manufacturers participated in a price-fixing conspiracy.
Phelps Dodge, parent of Columbian did not say whether the Commission had drawn any conclusions from its investigation, nor whether any conclusions were being made public.
