Rhein Chemie centralises US operation in Ohio with state aid
Chardon, Ohio-Rhein Chemie Corp. announced 1 Nov that it will increase its investment in Chardon and in Ohio by moving its US Rhein Chemie applications development, laboratory and manufacturing operations to the area.
Rhein Chemie, which recently announced the closue of its Trenton, New Jersey, manufacturing operations, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of chemicals company Lanxess Corp., and supplies a range of rubber and polymer chemicals.
These changes mark a new beginning for Rhein Chemie's business in the US and we are optimistic that the plans announced today will help ensure the future success of the company,†said Edward Klavin, Rhein Chemie Corp. president, in a company statement.
The firm went on to claim that its new strategy of consolidating US operations in Chardon "will help position its US business for growth, capitalise on existing business and create greater opportunities for existing Chardon employees."
Rhein Chemie added that its decision was based, in part, on various grants and tax credits over a seven-year period offered by the State of Ohio, as part of which the firm agreed to make Chardon the seat of its US manufacturing operations.
This announcement follows the company's announcement in August to close production in Trenton, New Jersey, as part of a global restructuring initiative.
