Female health signs distribution agreement with Hindustan Latex
New Delhi - Hindustan Latex Limited, India has entered into an agreement with the Female Health Company, London for the manufacturing and marketing of the Female Condom in India. The existing product is made in the UK from polyurethane.
Hindustan Latex is owned by the government of India. According to HLL, "FHC is the sole manufacturer of female condoms and, with HLL, will increase access to and use of the product for improved sexual and reproductive health in India, other parts of Asia and throughout the developing world; increase production capacity to meet this growing demand; and produce a lower-cost product."
The product will be marketed in India under the name, Confidom. It is expected to sell approx. 500,000 units in the first year. A pair of Confidom will cost Rs.250 (€4.4).
