North Carolina announces new Bridgestone aircraft tyre facility
Rockingham County, North Carolina - Bridgestone Aircraft Tire is to build a new factory in North Carolina, and move production of tyres for commercial airliners to the new plant from its existing facility in Florida.
A statement from the local State Governor confirmed the move quoting Joe Rayna, Bridgestone Aircraft Tire's president and CEO as saying, This area of North Carolina fits well with our site search criteria, offering advantages in both a readily available workforce and proximity to major customers. We would also like to thank all the economic development partners for their efforts and support in these endeavors.â€
The statement said Bridgestone Aircraft Tire will move operations to Rockingham County from its current Miami, Florida facility. The company will manufacture tyres for commercial jets at a new 160 000-square-foot (140 m2) building in Mayodan. While wages will vary by job function, the anticipated average weekly wage of the new jobs will be $680 plus benefits, which is more than the Rockingham County average weekly wage of $547, not including benefits. The statement said the new plant would create 95 jobs.
