Hefner chooses Berstorff roll-covering technology

Stuttgart, Germany - Rubber roll manufacturer Hefner, based in Gärtringen near Stuttgart has selected a Berstorff Covermatic KH 110 N, a fully-automatic roll covering system. The equipment has allowed the family-owned business to more than double its production capacity.

Previously, Hefner covered its rolls by winding calendered sheets onto the substrate. "The main benefits we have gained from the Berstorff Covermatic system are shorter manufacturing times and reduced personnel and material requirements, along with better roll quality," said Konstantin Luda, managing director at Hefner.

The manufacturing time of individual rolls has been reduced by a factor of eight to ten, for example, with manpower savings of 50 to 60 percent, the boss added.
