Pirelli awards Internet-ional prize to Black Hole website
Rome, Italy- The tenth edition of the Pirelli Internetional Award, have been granted to winners during a prize-giving ceremony in the historic Temple of Hadrian, in Rome, Italy.
The Top Pirelli Prize, the main award consisting of €25.000, has been awarded to a project titled Black Holes†a website that successfully brings black holes back from the edge of science fiction and firmly back into science fact. The site was site created by a team led by Roeland van der Marel, an astronomer at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland.
The site (see link below) is the product of close collaboration between the Space Telescope Science Institute and the dotcom Educational Web Adventures, specialised in online science education. The work has also been awarded as the best work for multimedia communication of physics.
