Lehmann & Voss launches 'eco' carbon filler
ERJ staff report (BC)
Hamburg – Lehmann & Voss now offers carbon fillers with a platelet-like structure, claimed to improve gas impermeability for air-conveying components such as inner liners for tires as well as hoses and gaskets, over the permeability found with typical fillers such as calcium carbonate and carbon black.
Luvomaxx CF is formulated from naturally occurring carbon with cryptocrystalline silica. Average particle size is 3.5-6.5 micrometres. The materials are not subject to the REACH regulations and are claimed to exhibit very good carbon dioxide emission results. A low density compared with other mineral fillers or carbon blacks is claimed to reduce mixing costs signi?cantly.
Other advantages are cited as follows:
· Good dispersibility in both natural and synthetic rubbers
· Positive effect of compound flow properties
· Good extrusion performance leading to smoother surfaces
· Capable of reducing internal friction in vulcanised rubbers
Lehmann & Voss will be on Stand K49, Hall 8A at K 2013.
