Michelin, Pirelli score victories at Le Mans
Le Mans, France -Â Frank Biela, Emanuele Pirro and Marco Werner have won the 2006 Le Mans 24 Hours race, driving a diesel-powered Audi running on Michelin tyres.
"We didn't have the slightest problem with tyres all weekend," beamed the N°8 Audi driver Marco Werner at the finish. "Michelin has produced a genuine exploit by enabling us to triple stint despite the hot weather. Bravo, Michelin, and my sincerest congratulations to them for all their tremedous work both before and during the race."
Meanwhile, Pirelli said it supplied the tyres fitted to the the British Team LNT Panoz Esperante, which scored a one-lap victory over a Porsche 996 and a Ferrari 430 GTC in the Le Mans GT2 category.
