Lanxess EPDM used on Olympic stadium roof

Tianjin, China -  The roof of the Tianjin Olympic Centre Stadium - which is due to host the soccer tournament of the Beijing Olympics in 2008 - is being sealed with EPDM from Lanxess AG. The company said, "Buna EP T 6470 is being used as a sealant for the roof of the stadium."

Lanxess continued, "The Tianjin Huafang Curtain Wall Decoration Engineering Company, which won the contract to build the 13 000 m² large sheeting portion of the roof, chose to work with polycarbonate sheeting and Buna EP T 6470. It was the outstanding weather- and ozone-resistant properties of the rubber, manufactured by LANXESS' Technical Rubber Products business unit, that really impressed the designers. These properties are clearly reflected in the product's durability and dimensional stability even when subjected to marked temperature fluctuations. Buna EP T 6470 can be used in highly loaded formulations and has a low electrical conductivity. It is generally used in hoses, extruded profiles (including dense automotive class A profiles) and moulded goods."
