Cooper closes four US tyre plants temporarily
Findlay, Ohio - Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is idling its four US tyre plants for unspecified periods, but a company spokeswoman said the shutdowns are part of regular breaks for maintenance and inventory adjustments.
She said the firm´s plants in Findlay, Ohio; Albany, Georgia; Texarkana, Arkansas; and Tupelo, Mississippi, are on temporary vacation shutdowns that occur from time to time. The scheduled startups vary by plant, she added.
Local news media in Arkansas said the Texarkana plant would shut down over the 4 July National holiday and re-open after 8 July.
In January and February, Cooper reduced mould and production levels in Texarkana because of weak market conditions.
