Trelleborg buys Mar-Con group
Stockholm, Sweden - Through its Engineered Systems business area, Trelleborg has acquired Mar-Con Group, made up of Oy Mar-Con Polymers Ltd. and Gromedi Oy, with approximately 90 employees and annual sales of about SEK 120 M (€13 million). The company is privately held and based in the Tampere region of Finland.
Mar-Con Group is a strong niche player in elastomer applications for the electronics and telecom sectors, with products such as multigates, standard/special grommets and gaskets for electromagnetic compatibility. Mar-Con's key technology is the manufacture of TPE (thermoplastic elastomers) components moulded together with metal or plastic parts. Mar-Con has its own product design and acts as a subcontractor.
"The acquisition of Mar-Con Group allows us to enter a new and growing business segment," says Lennart Johansson, President of Trelleborg Engineered Systems. "Mar-Con's unique know-how in TPE manufacturing and its sales presence in the Finnish market are important to us.
