Trelleborg buys construction profiles maker in US
Trelleborg, Sweden - Through its Building Systems business area, Trelleborg has signed an agreement to acquire US-based Kawneer Rubber & Plastics (KRP), with approximately 40 employees and annual sales of about SEK 90 million (€9.8 million). The company is owned by Kawneer Company Inc. and has production in Bristol, Indiana.
KRP produces polymer-based sealing products such as extruded profiles, primarily for the construction and transportation industries. According to Trelleborg, it already has a leading position in extruded profiles in Europe. This acquisition, said the company, gives it a leading position also in the United States.
“Together with EPG, acquired earlier this year, KRP will give us an even stronger growth platform for our operations in North America, in construction as well as in other industries,†says Peter Suter, President of Trelleborg Building Systems. “We will now have the opportunity to transfer know-how from Europe to the North American market, and we foresee synergies between KRP and EPG, technically and with regard to administration.â€
The acquisition is expected to be completed on August 1, 2006.
