Malaysian athletes to be based at Brickendonbury
Kuala Lumpur -Â The Malaysian government has announced it intends to invest RM490 million (Euro 105 million) to build and fund a sports training base in the UK prior to the London Olympics in 2012.
The new facility will be at the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre in Brickendonbury, about 25 km from the Olympic venues in London. TARRC is Malaysia's primary rubber research facility in Europe and was previously named the Malaysian Rubber Products Research Association (MRPRA).
Brickondenbury currently hosts the Malaysian archery team, but the new facilities wil allow athletes who are competing in European events to remain in Europe on a semi-permanernt basis, rather than shuttling back and forth to Malaysia.
