Cooper Tire drops out of S&P 500
New York - Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. will lose its place in Standard & Poor's S&P 500 index after the close of New York trading on Monday, 17 July. Cooper will be replaced by Windstream Corp. Windstream is a broadband services provider that will be formed when wireline segment of Alltel Corp. and Valor Communications Group Inc. are combined.
S&P said the content of the S&P 500 is based on market capitalisation. It added, "additions to and deletions from an S&P equity index do not in any way reflect an opinion on the investment merits of the companies concerned."
