Reports in the Indian media claiming that Michelin was looking into original equipment manufacturer (OEM) opportunities in the local passenger car and truck tyre markets could not be confirmed by the tyre maker.
Herve Dub, CEO of Michelin India Tyres Private Ltd, was quoted in The Hindu newspaper as saying that the company was in discussions with ''some OEMs'' and would disclose details in 12 months.
Michelin spokesman Fabrice Lenica, however, said the tyre manufacturer had ''no immediate plans'' involving OEMs.
''We have a company in India and we are definitely looking at the Indian market as part of the Michelin strategy in Asia,'' Mr Lenica said.
