Dunaújváros - Korean tyre manufacturer Hankook Tire laid the foundation stone for its €500 million plant in Hungary on 14 July.
The 56 hectare plant in the Dunaújváros region south of the capital Budapest is expected to start production of tyres for cars and light trucks by the second half of 2007 and reach capacity of 10 million units/year by 2010.
''With the construction of the Hungary plant, Hankook Tire will be establishing a serious global production network, centered in Korea, China and Hungary,'' Hankook Tire CEO Cho Choong-hwan said.
