Bridgestone Europe pumps €200 m into new tyre plant in Poland
Brussels - Bridgestone Europe has agreed to invest €200 million in a new radial truck and bus tyre plant in Stargard, Poland.
Construction of the plant in the north-west of the country will start in the first half of 2007 and production expected to start in 2009.
The 100 ha site is expected to employ 750 people and produce 5000 tyres a day by 2011.
''Bridgestone's business has grown strongly in Europe, especially in sales of truck tyres,'' Bridgestone Europe president, chairman and chief executive Takashi Urano said.
''This success has created the need for this new plant outside Stargard, from where we will supply truck tyres all over Europe.''
Stargard will be Bridgestone's second truck and bus tyre plant in Europe, after Bilbao, Spain, and the company's second tyre-producing facility in Poland, after the Poznan passenger-car tyre plant.
