Nokian integrates heavy tires and truck tires businesses

Nokia, Finland – Nokian Tyres is to integrate its heavy tires and truck tires businesses and form a new commercial tires unit as of 1 January 2014.
The combined net sales of the two businesses was roughly €150m in 2012. The two units employ about 280 people in Nokia, Finland. The tire maker said the integration of the two units is not expected to have any immediate impact on personnel.
“The integration of two small business units’ resources, operations and management gives us a better chance to develop operations and improve sales,” commented Kim Gran, CEO of Nokian Tires.
Pontus Stenberg, the current director of Nokian truck tires, will be the director of the new business. For the transition period, Pontus Stenberg has been appointed also as director of heavy tires, as of 1 October 2013. The current director of heavy tires, Jarmo Puputti, is joining another company as of 1 November 2013.
