Santoprene TPV on show at international rubber show
ERJ staff report (BC)
Houston, Texas – ExxonMobil Chemical aims to demonstrate its “commitment to the elastomer industry” on its booth 2808 at the International Rubber & Advanced Materials in Healthcare Expo, at The International Exposition Center, Cleveland, Ohio, 8-10 October.
LWB-Steinl will have a C-frame press running ExxonMobil’s Santoprene TPV for window sealing systems and glass encapsulation on its booth 2424.
According to ExxonMobil, Santoprene thermoplastic vulcanisates (TPVs) are lightweight, cost-effective alternatives to thermoset rubber materials in semi-dynamic and static weatherseals.
In glass encapsulation applications, Santoprene TPV is claimed to deliver durable sealing performance, functional integration, a good-quality matte surface and excellent UV and aging resistance.
Compared to thermoset rubbers, says ExxonMobil, it also provides potential weight reduction opportunities and more cost-effective processing.
