Conti confirms interest in Goodyear Engineered Products

Hanover, Germany -- Continental is still interested to buy some or all of Goodyear's Engineered Products division. Goodyear has said its EP unit is non-core and is for sale, but has delayed any major decisions while workers in North America were on strike. That strike has now been resolved.

"Of course we are interested in Goodyear Engineered Products" said Gerhard Lerch, board member responsible for ContiTech, speaking at Conti's annual press dinner. "GEP is strong in the American market and ContiTech in Europe," he said. Lerch added that GEP and ContiTech complement each other extremely well. He noted, however, that no firm agreement has yet been reached.
