Bridgestone returns to Northern Ireland retreading with Bandag brand
ERJ staff report (BC)
Warwick, UK – ADCO Retreads, based in Portadown, Northern Ireland, has decided to develop its business following a management buy-out through a franchise for Bridgestone’s Bandag brand.
Bridgestone’s retread development manager Terry Salter said: “ADCO is keen to embrace the Bandag brand and will rebrand its website, vehicles and signage as a result.
“This agreement is also strategically important for us, giving a franchise presence in Northern Ireland after an absence of more than 25 years.”
ADCO is expected to deliver an immediate benefit in retread supply and casing management for Bridgestone’s fleet business in Northern Ireland; specifically its Ulster Bus contract.
Salter added: “We are passionate in maintaining quality standards, with a commitment to install Bandag 7400U shearography [facilities]. ADCO will play a pivotal role in this.
“We expect initial retread volumes to reach 5,500 per annum. We aim to grow to 8000 per annum within the first franchise term.
Bridgestone acquired Bandag Incorporated in 2007, forming Bridgestone Bandag LLC.
