Nokian introduces three new tyres in Finnish ride-and-drive
Saariselka, Finland -- Nokian Tyres PLC is introducing three new tyres in a series of ride-and drive events at its winter tyre testing facility in the northern Finnish province of Lapland that the company claims places it at the forefront of world winter tyre technology.
The Nokian WR G2, designating the second generation of the WR passenger tyre, is an all-weather tyre with an asymmetrical tread design to give the tyre outstanding high-speed, dry handling, slush and hydroplaning properties, Nokian officials said.
The Hakkapeliitta 5 and its sister tyre, the Hakkapeliitta Sport Utility 5, are the new generation of the snow tyres the Nokia, Finland-based company has been making since 1936. They boast square studs with square pins which have wider diameters than the company's previous studs, allowing for greater strength and a stronger grip on the road, they said.
