Michelin publishes performance report
Paris - Group Michelin has published the third edition of the Michelin Performance and Responsibility report of tyre industry challenges, including some new features.
The report provides a detailed account of road mobility and industry challenges accompanied by Michelin's 2005 and 2006 performance in carrying out the previous development approach.
It was started in 2002 and is based on five key corporate values: respect for customers, respect for people, respect for shareholders, respect for the environment and respect for facts. A complete version is published every two years along with summary updates of key indicator changes in alternate years.
This year's report, published at the end of May, includes:
- A review report of a set of environment and social indicators by one of the company's statutory auditors;
- A number of personal statements from people outside the organisation concerning the issues described and Michelin's approach;
- The simultaneous publication of a 16-page summarised version.
The new edition also presents recent achievements in:
- Energy efficiency, safety, longevity and other areas of responsible product performance based on innovations like Michelin Durable Technologies;
- Environmental performance of Michelin's plants, made possible with continuous monitoring and management of its environmental impact;
- Ongoing deployment of systems for recovering used tyres in Europe and around the world;
- Workplace safety and ergonomics, team diversity, relations with local communities and initiatives to make roads safer.
A special section of the report is devoted to Michelin Fleet Solutions, an integrated tyre management service for large European and North American trucking companies that invoices customers on the number of miles/kilometres actually driven.
The new report and the summarised version are available in French and English and can be downloaded in either from www.michelin.com.
