Accella acquires tire fill systems maker Zeus
ERJ staff report (PR)
St. Louis, Missouri – Accella Performance Materials, Inc., a maker of polyurethanes, plastisols and recycled rubber products, has acquired Zeus Tyrefill Systems GmbH, Acella announced 2 Sept.
Zeus, which was owned and operated under Roesler Tyre Innovators GmbH of Dortmund, Germany, manufactures tire fill systems and flat-proofing products for heavy-duty industrial and off-the-road-vehicles. Its main markets are in Europe, South Africa and Australia.
Martin Roesler, the former owner of Zeus, will continue as managing director of Zeus.
As a subsidiary of Accella Polyurethane Systems, Zeus will expand the company’s global tire fill business, said St Louis-based Acella. It will operate alongside the US group’s Arnco and Pathway Performance Polymers subsidiaries.
Tire fill products employ a polyurethane-based compound which is pumped into the tire's air cavity through a normal valve. They are used in industrial, military and farm applications where they can offer better reliability, comfort and safety over traditional pneumatic or solid tires.
Zeus is Accella’s fourth acquisition since 2012 and said CEO Andy Harris “represents a key next step in the strategic growth of our global polyurethane systems business.”
Accella has grown to over $300 million (€228m) in revenue over the past two years, added.John Televantos, a partner at Arsenal Capital, which acquired the company in 2012.
“We are committed to the support and growth of Accella and will continue to invest in strategic opportunities that will further transform the business,” said Televantos.
