UK announces coordinated tyre safety campaign
London -Â TyreSafe, the UK's tyre safety organisation, is co-ordinating a national tyre safety month in October to raise awareness of the part that tyres play in road safety and avoiding crashes, particularly in the wet. The campaign will have a major focus on tyre pressures and the part they play in reducing fuel consumption and CO m2
emissions.
The Tyre Safety Month, the first of its kind arranged by the tyre industry, already has the backing of major tyre companies and retailer groups in the UK together with many government and non governmental organisations. The campaign will be led by respected motoring journalist and Channel 5 Fifth Gear television presenter Vicki Butler-Henderson.
The campaign -Â originally scheduled to be just a week-long - will also feature a major media relations campaign including tyre safety editorials in local and regional newspapers, consumer motoring magazine feature articles and radio promotions. The extension was made possible by, "the tremendous support generated by the programme from tyre retailers and manufacturers." said Tyresafe.
