Worker dies at Skellerup's Christchurch factory
Christchurch, New Zealand -Â Skellerup Industries today confirmed that Alan Pitcaithly tragically died on Monday 24th September in an accident at the company's Woolston site in
Christchurch. In a stratement, Skellerup said, "Pitcaithly had worked for Skellerup for over 30 years and was a valued and well liked employee."
Managing Director, Donald Stewart, who flew to Christchurchon Monday evening said, “We are absolutely devastated that this accident has happened. It is a difficult time for everyone and our immediate focus is on caring for Alan's family and supporting our staff, particularly those that were assisting at the accident siteâ€.
Stewart continued, “We are currently working with OSH as they investigate the accident; however it is still unclear exactly what the cause of the accident was.â€
Local press reports said Pitcaithly was working in the compression moulding area when a piece of equipment fell on him.
