Cooper's Armes named chairman
Findlay, Ohio -- Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. president and CEO Roy Armes also will serve as the company's chairman, effective immediately, the Findlay-based tyre maker said, in a 19 Dec statement.
Armes joined Cooper in January, replacing interim CEO and director Byron Pond, who had served in the post since Thomas Dattilo's departure in August 2006. Since that time, the “office of the chairman†had consisted of Pond and directors Art Aronson and John Shuey.
With Armes' appointment to chairman, the “office of the chairman†was dissolved and John Meier was named lead director for the board.
“We offer our thanks to the directors who served as office of the chair as they provided oversight for governance of the company during the past 16 months,†said Meier. “We have full confidence in Armes' ability to assume the additional role of chairman and continue to lead Cooper's progress toward increased profitability and growth,†he added.
