Clairoix workers storm Sarreguemines plant
ERJ staff report (DS)
Hannover, Germany -- Continental has confirmed that workers from its Clairoix plant have forced entry to another Continental tyre plant, in Sarreguemines, on the French/German border
Continental has voiced its disapproval of the use of force. IN a statement the company said, "As the events of the last two months have shown, violence does not provide answers or solutions for the employees. It is therefore important that peace and quiet have returned to the Sarreguemines plant."
The occupation of the Sarreguemines tire factory by workers from the Continental factory in Clairoix was terminated on the evening of May 6, after the head of Continental's Passenger and Light Truck Tires division, Nikolai Setzer promised representatives of the Clairoix workforce a personal meeting on May 12.
