Uncertainty makes FY 2009 projections impossible - Bridgestone
ERJ staff report (DS)
Tokyo -- When releasing its full year results a few days ago, Bridgestone slipped in a comment to the effect that the current uncertainty in the market precludes the publication of any meaningful projections for the current year.
Bridgestone was able to offer forecasts for the first six months of the year, but said the operating environment, "is characterised by a continuing lack of demand for new vehicles and slumping depand for replacement tyres, particularly in the truck and bus segment. The company is also facing stagnant demand in diversified products. As a result, the future remains extremely uncertain."
Bridgestone said it would offer full year projections in six months' time, when it publishes consolidated results for the first half of the year.
