Lanxess expands Indian tech centre

Mumbai. India -- Lanxess India Pvt
Limited is relocating and expanding its Rubber Chemicals (RUC) Asia
Pacific Technical Centre within the city of Thane. The Technical Centre
is being relocated to Wagle Industrial Estate, Thane from Kolshet Road,
Thane. The centre, which will be fully operational this month, will be
headed by Kishor Katkar, Head of Technical Services for Business Unit
Rubber Chemicals.
The new tech centre will have additional
facilities to help in commercialization and customer approval of
products produced at the new production plant being built at Jhagadia.
It will conduct product testing as well as training for rubber industry
personnel. It will also support the specific needs of customers, such
as in developing new products and new applications using rubber
chemicals specialty products from Lanxess.
During the centre's
inauguration, Luis Lopez-Remon, Global Head, Rubber Chemicals business
unit, said, “The new Technical Centre will positively support Lanxess'
initiative to develop new processes and formulations for the rubber
industry that are cost effective and performance driven. It therefore
complements and enhances the company's global R&D capabilities to
create and develop new innovative technologies."
Lanxess said
it is on track to start up its new Jhagadia site, Gujarat state, in
2010. With an investment of around euro 50 million, the site will have
a new ion exchange resins plant and a rubber chemicals plant, which is
being relocated from Thane, Maharashtra state. The plants will employ
230 workers in total.
