Echa to hold second stakeholders day 27 May
ERJ staff report (LW)
Helsinki -- The European Chemicals Agency (Echa) has announced that it will host a second Stakeholders' Day at the Helsinki Exhibition and Conference Centre on 27 May 2009. Over 300 stakeholder representatives from Europe and around the world will attend the event, the organisation said.
According to Echa, the programme focuses on the registration of chemicals, companies´ information exchange fora and public consultations.
The UK's Chemical Business Association (CBA) recently called for a review of Echa's funding levels for registrations under the REACH regulation on registering, evaluating and authorising chemicals. The CBA also pointed out that the unexpectedly high level of preregistrations may have made substance information exchange fora (SIEFs) unworkable.
On 27 May, Echa will hold a press conference with Geert Dancet, executive director, and his three directors: Christel Musset, director for registration and IT tools, Andreas Herdina, director for cooperation and Jukka Malm, director for assessment.
