DuPont extends Hypalon plant lifetime - official
ERJ staff report (DS)
Beaumont, Texas -- DuPont Performance Elastomers is to keep its Hypalon unit open for three to six months beyond the previously-announced deadline, according to a brief statement from DPE.
The company statement reads, "Since the announcement, significant customer feedback has been received regarding additional time needed for material requalification in a number of critical applications. "Â
It continues, "DPE has taken the decision to extend operations at Beaumont through at least 3Q 2009, contingent upon obtaining customer commitments on volume and pricing associated with the extension of this unprofitable business. Our decision to shutdown the facility and exit the business this year remains unchanged."
