Dunlop Oil & Marine wins record-setting order from UAE
ERJ staff report (DS)
Grimsby, UK -- Dunlop Oil & Marine said it has has netted one of the biggest orders in the history of the company. Based in Grimsby, England, the company is supplying unloading hoses for the Abu Dhabi crude oil pipeline (ADCOP) in the United Arab Emirates.
Dunlop Oil & Marine -- a subsidiary of ContiTech -- is supplying the unloading hoses for the project to its customer, Bluewater, who in turn is producing three mooring buoys for loading tankers at high sea. The hoses are used in Fujairah to transport oil from the loading buoys to the tankers.
Each of the three unloading stations is equipped with two floating hoses, both with an inside diameter measuring a good 60 cm. The 320-meter-long lines from Dunlop Oil & Marine are each designed with a double-carcass to prevent oil from escaping should the hoses be damaged during operations. More than 220 hose sections will be manufactured in Grimsby for the project. They are scheduled to go into service in Fujairah in the summer of 2010 in conjunction with the buoys.
The pipeline runs 370 km overland from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah on the Emirates' east coast. It is slated to transport 1.5 million barrels of oil each day.
