Pirelli allows bikers to personalise their tyres
ERJ staff report (DS)
Milan, Italy - Pirelli has introduced a new range of adhesive stickers which can personalise the sidewall of its tyres. Individuals can design their own stickers on the Pirelli website, purchase the stickers and have them sent to their home address. The customer then can apply the stickers to the sidewall of the tyre at home.
The package is being launched with Pirelli's high-power premium motorcycle tyre, the Diablo Rosso Corsa, which includes a package of six labels - presumably one for each side of the front tyre and two for each side of the rear. The tyre has spaces on the sidewall designed to accept the stickers.
Pirelli said the Diablo Rosso Corsa has undergone scientific tests performed on a test circuit in order to measure the true "usable" power of the motorcycle. The results show that when brought up from lean and at initial acceleration, the 'Rosso Corsa' is able to transfer at least 10hp more to the ground than any other tested reference tyre, with a peak difference of 40hp.
