VMI launches single-stage airspring builder
ERJ staff report (DS)
Epe, Netherlands - VMI has adapted its tyre building technology to airsprings. It is now offering a single-stage airspring builder, to replace the first- and second-stage building machines traditionally used in the airspring industry.
After the operator places the two beads in the respective bead holders, all the readymade components, coming from their own servicer, are applied to the single stage crown drum automatically. The ply material comes to the servicer with a calendered fixed width. This implies that the offline bias cutter is no longer required, a cost saving aspect. On each respective servicer the material is measured and cut to length automatically. A transfer unit places each component on the central conveyor.
