Lanxess AGM streamlines supervisory board

Cologne, Germany - The Annual Shareholders' Meeting of Lanxess AG on Friday, May 28, 2010, elected the shareholders' representatives on the new Supervisory Board, which has been reduced in size from 16 to 12 members. The reduced size reflects a reduction in employee count below 10 000, which carries a minimum board size of 12 people.

Newly elected to the Supervisory Board was Theo H. Walthie (Senior Energy Advisor, Dow Chemical Company). The shareholders confirmed the appointments of Dr. Friedrich Janssen (E.ON Ruhrgas AG), Robert J. Koehler (SGL Carbon SE), Rainer Laufs (former Chairman of the Management Board of Deutsche Shell AG), Dr. Ulrich Middelmann (former Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp AG) and Dr. Rolf Stomberg (former member of the Board of Directors of The British Petroleum Co. p.l.c.).
On the workers side, the new member is Axel Berndt (Leverkusen Works Council). Wolfgang Blossey (Mine, Chemical and Power Workers' Union), Dr. Rudolf Fauss (Chairman of the Lanxess Managerial Employees' Committee), Ulrich Freese (Mine, Chemical and Power Workers' Union), Hans-Jürgen Schicker (Uerdingen Works Council) and Gisela Seidel (Dormagen Works Council) were re-elected. Werner Czaplik (Central Works Council), Ralf Deitz (Leverkusen Works Council) and Rainer Hippler (Group Works Council) are no longer serving as employee representatives on the Supervisory Board.
The term of office of the newly elected Supervisory Board runs until the end of the 2015 Annual Stockholders' Meeting
