Rubber de-vulcaniser opens first North American facility
ERJ staff report (TB)
Mississauga, Ontario -- Watson Brown HSM Canada Ltd. has opened its first rubber recycling facility in North America, in Mississauga.
The company said it uses a patented process developed in the United Kingdom that takes surplus material in the form of reject parts, flash, trim, etc., and devulcanises the material through a “mechanochemical†process before returning it to the original customer for blending back into virgin compound, and moulding more product.
Glossop, England-based Watson Brown claimed there are minimal changes in performance and physical properties following the devulcanisation process.
