Helsinki, Finland -- A project by a group connected to the European Chemicals Agency has found that 24 percent of its 1,600 members are non-compliant with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals, or REACH, standards.
The REACH-EN-FORCE project, presented by the Forum for Exchange of Information on Enforcement, said on June 1 it found that 2.6 percent of the members have no data or no provision for REACH; 5.6 percent had incorrect preregistration; 11 lacked the required SDS; and 20 percent were non-compliant with language and format requirements.
The forum members agreed to extend the inspection activities until spring 2011 to access compliance with the first deadline for registering, Nov. 30, 2010.
