Reliance aims to be top-ten elastomer maker

Mumbai, India -- Reliance Industries Ltd aims to be among the top ten elastomer makers in the world. The company's chairman and managing director, Shri Mukesh D. Ambani, outlined the ambition at the annual shareholders' meeting in Mumbai last week.
He said, "Reliance is the largest player in the synthetic rubber business in India." and continued, "We want to build on this leadership to become one of the top ten elastomer companies in the world."
Ambani added, "Reliance will create additional capacities of poly butadiene rubber at Baroda and styrene butadiene rubber at Hazira. And butyl rubber in a JV partnership with SIBUR to complete a comprehensive portfolio in the synthetic rubbers domain."
