Bridgestone recalls 4,0987 truck/bus tyres for sidewall problem
ERJ staff report (TB)
Washington DC -- Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC has voluntarily recalled 4,097 Bridgestone R192 truck/bus tyres, size 275/70R22.5, manufactured at the Bridgestone plant in Warren County, Tennessee
These tyres may have problems with the sidewall indicator dimples technicians use to monitor sidewall wear, the tyre maker said.
Bridgestone told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the specified depth of the dimples may result in exposed body ply cord. This could cause the cord to deteriorate, creating the possibility of air loss at the dimple and increasing the risk of tyre failure, the Nashville, Tennessee-based tyre maker said.
Bridgestone will begin contacting tyre owners in July for free tyre replacement, NHTSA said.
