Michelin to offer free air during great holiday rush
ERJ staff report (DS)
Paris -- Michelin is to offer free air to drivers on French roads as well as pressure checks during the great holiday rush this weekend. From this Friday (2 July), the company will be at various service stations and break areas on French motorways, as well as in town centres, offering pressure checks and free inflation for tyres.
If the technicians notice a fault with the tyre, they will offer an instant replacement service, though this will not be free.
The programme will form part of Michelin's ongoing inflation survey, which has, since 2003, measured the pressure of 315 000 tyres in 35 countries - including 27 in Europe. This extensive survey shows that 61 percent of vehicles still have at least one tyre under pressure. And 38 percent have at least one tyre in which the inflation pressure is over 0.5 bar below the recommended pressure.
