Rhodia Silcea sales up by 40 percent

Paris -- In announcing its half-year results, Rhodia said its Silcea division saw sales of silica increase by 40 percent on a like-for-like basis.
The company said Silcea unit sales in the first half reached euro 218 million, up from euro 149 million a year ago, or euro 156 million on a like-for-like basis. Profit (EBITDA) reached euro 52 million, up from euro 18 million a year ago.
The comapny said volumes increased by 37 percent on a like for like basis and that increased performance was driven by the global tyre recovery as well as improved market share.
