Michelin launches new agri tyre for Claas combines
ERJ staff report (DS)
Paris -- Working with farm machinery maker Claas, Michelin has developed a new tyre for combine harvesters which delivers greater footprint for a given load and hence, lower soil compaction than competing tyres.
The tyre, which uses Michelin's 'ultraflex' technology, can improve productivity, by permitting larger, heavier vehicles said Michelin. Ultraflex involves the use of hybrid fibres, often aramid and nylon to deliver strength and also excelent flex and temperature performance.
Michelin said, "the new CerexBib is the only commercially available tyre that can work at a pressure of less than 2 bar." The company continued, "The new Michelin tyre is narrower than currently available tyres; for example, the new Michelin CerexBib IF 680/85 R 32 has the same load capacity as the current 800/70 R 32. This lets manufacturers build bigger harvesters without exceeding a width of 3.5 meters. That's important, because European Union regulations stipulate that wider harvesters have to be escorted on the road."
