CGS tyres help tractor get high on the Stelvio Pass
ERJ staff report (DS)
Prague -- Olympic ski medallist Giorgio Di Centa drove his tractor to the highest point ever reached in Europe. He drove the Same unit fitted with Continental AC70 T tyres and König snow chains through the Stelvio Pass in the Eastern Alps on 23 July. Di Centa reached the altitude of 3 175 meters at the old Pirovano refuge. This marks the highest point in Europe reached in a tractor. The feat was attested by the Italian Timekeepers Association (Federazione Italiana Cronometristi). The terrain varied between paved road, stone and ice.
“All companies claim 'excellent traction,'†said Andrew Mabin, CGS Tyres Director of Marketing and Sales. “CGS Tyres claim the Stelvio Pass.†CGS Tyres produce agricultural tyres under the Continental brand. “Technically speaking, traction is one of the two best characteristics of the AC70 T tyre. Due to deep tread lugs, AC70 T has also a great driving stability,†added Mabin.
“It was tough to reach the 3 175 metre altitude,†said Giorgio Di Centa, a top Italian cross country skier. “The snow, strong wind and slope did not discourage me in conquering the summit. Such challenges are simply irresistible,†concluded Di Centa.
