JK Tyre to build radial car, truck tyre plant

Chennai, India -- JK Tyre is to build a plant in southern India to make radial car and truck tyres. The green-field plant will be on stream in October 2011, ramping up to full production by 2012. it represents an investment of Rs 15000 million (euro 247 million).

Total capacity will be 5 million passenger car radials and 600 000 truck radials per year. This will bring JK's Indian capacity to 15.5 million units/year. The plant will be located in Sriperumbudur near Chennai in southern India and employ 1000.

A spokesman confirmed the main details widely published in Indian media following a press conference in Chennai.
