UK to reduce fines for low-tread bikers
ERJ staff report (DS)
London -- UK Road Safety Minister Mike Penning has proposed changes to fixed penalty fines in the UK, which will mean lower fines for motorcyclists caught with excessive treadwear on their tyres.
The fixed penalty for insufficient motorcycle tread depth will be amended to £60 from £120 to bring it into line with the penalty for other non-commercial vehicles. The amendments laid before Parliament alter the deposit level in respect of this offence.
The draft is subject to Parliamentary approval.
