Pro-Align fits winter tyres on UK service vehicles
ERJ staff report (DS)
Towcester, England -- Pro-Align Ltd, UK arm of the leading wheel alignment specialist, has fitted its fleet of service and sales vehicles with winter tyres for the first time, according to an 18 Nov press release.
The UK firm supplies alignment systems developed by Hunter Engineering Co of St. Louis, Missouri, and used by many vehicle manufacturers, franchised dealer groups, independent workshops, motorsport specialists and vehicle technology consultancies. Pro-Align is the sole UK distributor for the Hunter range of wheel aligners, balancers and tyre changers.
By fitting winter tyres, Pro-Align aims to maintain its maximum 48-hour response times for any service breakdowns while ensuring its drivers remain safe on the road, the firm said in the press release. The move will allow the firm to ensure its customers continue to receive high levels of support and assistance, whatever the weather this coming winter, the announcement added.
“Ensuring the safety of our staff while maintaining excellent levels of customer service is a key priority for us,†explains Paul Beaurain, managing director, Pro-Align.
As winter tyres contain more natural rubber and advanced silica compounds than standard summer tyres, they provide much better levels of grip in cold, damp conditions, the Pro-Align announcement explained. Tests conducted by the British Tyre Manufacturers Association found that a car fitted with winter weather tyres braking at 60 mph (96 kph) on a wet road at 5 C stopped five metres shorter than one with standard tyres, equivalent to more than one car length, the firm added.
Pro-Align currently has 11 dedicated field-based engineers responsible for the service of more than 1700 Hunter alignment systems across the UK. As dedicated Hunter system engineers, the team currently attend more than 94 percent of service call-outs within 48 hours. This high level of continuity ensures customers' profit generation opportunities are not compromised, the Pro-Align statement concluded.
