Trelleborg installs world's largest test press in Singapore
ERJ staff report (DS)
Singapore -- Trelleborg Engineered Systems in Singapore has commissioned the world's largest test press for polymer component compression testing. Allowing large full scale compression testing, Trelleborg said the investment represents a major step forward for the company in development of its offshore business and in particular in supporting and securing float-over projects.
“The test press has been engineered, procured, constructed and installed (EPCI) by our team in Singapore,†says Julian Wee, Managing Director of the facility. “The press has a load capacity of 18,300 MT and weighs approximately 600 tons. Construction of its structure is robust using extra high tensile steels that have outstanding yield strength.â€
“The test press will primarily be used for Leg Mating Unit (LMU) and Deck Support Unit (DSU) product testing. It can also be utilised for other high capacity load transfer products like Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) module support bearings and seismic products,†says JP Chia, Engineering Manager responsible for the design of the test press.
