Huber, Almatis reach agreement on fire retardants

Atlanta, Georgia --, Huber Engineered Materials (HEM) and Almatis, Inc. (Almatis) have reached an agreement concerning speciality hydrate flame retardant products previously produced and marketed by Almatis. The specific products to be produced include Hydral 710, Hydral PGA and SpaceRite grades.
Under the agreement, announced 16 December,Huber will be responsible for sales and marketing, while Almatis will toll-manufacture the products on behalf of Huber.
“The addition of the Almatis product line will further strengthen HEM's portfolio offering of non-halogen flame retardants,†says Jerry Bertram, Vice President and General Manager of HEM's Industrial Minerals business. “Along with HEM's recent acquisition of the Kemgard® flame retardant and smoke suppressant business, we now have an extensive line of environmentally-friendly products for a variety of applications.
